Project Overview

The North Tarrant Express (NTE) is dedicated to improving mobility along north I-35W, northeast I-820 and SH 121/183 Airport Freeway through a regionally supported TEXpress Lane system. Segment 3A is a $1.4 billion project that reconstructed 6.5 miles of I-35W from N of I-30 to N of I-820 including the I-35W/I-820 interchange. Existing frontage roads, bridges, overpasses interchanges, and ramps were reconstructed. The interchange with I-820 at the western extent of Segment 1 was reconstructed and included direct connectors between the two segments’ managed lane components. The project was built in coordination between NTE Mobility Partners Segments 3, LLC (NTEMP3) and TxDOT, and completed two months ahead of schedule in July 2018. Rone completed a geotechnical investigation for the northern portion of 35W from Long Avenue to Western center, including the I-35W/I-820 interchange; and materials testing for all 6.5 miles of Segment 3A.
